Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2025

This policy describes how ProduceHub collects, uses, and protects your information.

1. Overview

ProduceHub ("we", "us", "our") operates a marketplace platform that connects independent farms ("Farms") with consumers ("Customers"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our website and services.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing. We only share information as described in this policy or as required by law.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide: When you register, place an order, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and account credentials. Farms may also provide business details, banking or payment account information (for payouts), and documents such as licenses or certifications.

Information from your use: We collect information about how you use the platform, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs. This helps us operate the service, improve security, and fix issues.

  • Payment information (e.g. card details) is collected and processed by our payment provider (e.g. Stripe); we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • If you contact us, we keep a record of the correspondence.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the platform and process orders, deposits, and payouts.
  • Create and manage your account and communicate with you about orders, account, or support.
  • Send transactional messages (e.g. order confirmations, status updates) and, with your consent, marketing (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • Improve our services, security, and user experience; conduct analytics (including in anonymized or aggregated form).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers that help us run the platform (e.g. hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics), under agreements that limit their use of your information.
  • Farms: When you place an order, we share the information necessary to fulfill it (e.g. name, contact, delivery/pickup details) with the Farm you ordered from.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

We may use or share anonymized or aggregated data (that does not identify you) for analytics, reports, or improving our services. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work fully if you disable them.

We may use third-party analytics or tools that set their own cookies or collect usage data. We do not use cookies to pass your personal information to other sites for their marketing.

6. Security and Retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Payment data is handled by our payment provider using industry-standard security (e.g. encryption). No internet or electronic storage method is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, please contact us.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may retain some information after account closure where required or permitted by law.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can review and update your account information through your profile when logged in. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@producehub.ca. We will respond in line with applicable law.

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us. You may still receive transactional messages (e.g. order updates) that are necessary for the service.

If you are in Canada, your rights may include access and correction under applicable provincial and federal privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.

8. Children and Minors

Our platform is not intended for anyone under the age of 19. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 19. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. Farms’ own sites, social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without your consent where required by law.
